3 diabetics on everest within a week!
Reports are now in that throughout May 2006 THREE type 1 diabetics have been on or ascending Mt Everest. It has now been confirmed that all three of these type 1 diabetics, Josu Feijoo, Geri Winkler and Will Cross, managed to scale the peak.
The first ever type 1 diabetic was Josu Feijoo on the 18th May

from someone that knows Josu... Josu is a basque (from north of Spain) diabetic. I met him once in an
Everest expedition in 1993, and two or three times more. It was a long
time since I didn't know anything about him now.. At that time he was
not a good example of good diabetes control, but a good example of
perserverance. The last time I saw him he had some retinopathy and small
complications. I saw the news about him in the internet. I'm glad he's
fit and has done it, as well as the other two.
